Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion

Are you concerned with fine lines and wrinkles, acne, congestion, blackheads, pigmentation, scarring and dull tired skin? Then we have just the answer for you.

Microdermabrasion ia a non-surgical, non-invasive, safe procedure that performs two actions. The first action performed is by blowing fine micro crystals onto the skin. These crystals perfom a deep exfoliation & polishes the skin. By removing all the dead skin cells & unclogging the skin, we are stimulating your collagen & elastin proteins to stimulate a quicker renewal of cell growth.

The second action that is performed is vacuum suction on the skin. The vacuum suction will increase the microcirculation within the skin. This will deliver fresh oxygen & blood to all the new skin cells that have been generated by the exfolaition process.

The two actions performed together during a microdermabrasion treatment work together to promote a "Clear & Bright' Complexion, due to the regeneration of the epidermal cell structure.

There are many different skin concerns that we can target utulising microdermabraision, so if you have any concerns with your skin, call Bella Spazio on (02)6360 1121, and we can discuss what Microdermabrasion can do for you.

Winter Skin

Winter Skin

It's that time of year again when the temperature drops and cold winds, central heating and low humidity can dry skin out, leaving it vulnerable to itchiness and flaking. It can also aggravate conditions such as eczema and dermatitis.
Dry skin typically experiences a breakdown of the skin barrier functions due to inflammation, as well as a build-up of dead skin cells. The number one solution is to keep skin well hydrated.

Internal hydration
Eat plenty of essential fatty acids (EFAs), particularly omega-3 (found in avocado and oily fish) and omega-6 (found in nuts, wholegrains and flaxseed oil), which keep skin hydrated and clarified from within.

Topical relief
Check your skincare regimen!
You will need to be using a gentle cleanser that won't strip the skin, followed by a quality moisturiser that will dose skin with lipids and reinforce its protective barrier.
It is vital to exfoliate weekly to slough away the build-up of dead skin cells and by doing so you will allow your products to penetrate deeper.
When skin is cold it doesn't function as well, so the natural shedding process slows down. Products can become less effective, as the barrier of dead cells prevents absorption.
It is imperative to be using a cosmeceutical range at this time as it will penetrate down deep within the epidermis to really combat dryness and dehydration as opposed to an over the counter product that will only work on the superficial layers of the skin.
The best range for you to be using at this time of year is the Image Skincare Vital C range.
This range is specifically designed for environmentally damaged, dry/dehydrated, sensitive/rosacea-prone skin types. A rich blend of natural botanicals and anti-oxidants soothes and protects the skin.

What is the difference between IPL & Laser Treatments?

What is the difference between IPL & Laser Treatments?

If you have been looking at treatment options for permanent hair reduction, then you may have come across both IPL & Laser hair removal, & you may be wondering what the difference is?

The treatments involve producing light energy which is then absorbed into the dark pigment of the hair to ultimately cause damage to the hair follicle. The goal is to destroy the hair root & also reduce hair growth.

Light is absorbed best & attracted to dark objects. We have all heard about wearing dark clothes in Summer & being much hotter as opposed to wearing white, the reason is because it's true. In a similar way light energy is absorbed much better by dark pigment in the hair follicle.

IPL & Laser hair removal are essentially two very different technologies. Both technologies use small devices that ultimately generate heat but in very different ways.

Laser hair removal uses a direct beam of light to target the hair follicle & destroy the bulb. This beam of light is a direct, concentrated heat that travels deep within the skin. Laser treatments are only able to treat hair reduction & pigmentation.

IPL stands for Intense Pulse Light. IPL uses a broad spectrum of colour. It is a light scattering heat & the heat is evenly dispersed at a safe level within the skin.

Unlike Laser treatments, IPL is used for many different treatments, they include semi-permanent hair reduction, pigmentation therapy, skin rejuvenation, vascular therapy & acne therapy.

If you would like to know more about any of these treatments or to book your complimentary consultation with one of our qualified Therapists, please feel free to phone us on (02)6360 1121

What is IPL?

What is IPL?

There is no doubt that permanent hair reduction has over taken temporary hair removal methods. The days of waxing & shaving are limited!
Although the cost of treatment is higher than the traditional methods of temporary hair removal, people are quickly working out that permanent hair reduction is by far the cheaper option in the long term, not to mention much more conveinant. So the main question I get asked is "What is IPL & how does it work."
Intense pulse light, commonly abbreviated as IPL, is a non invasive medical technology that uses light therapy for permanent hair reduction, eliminating age spots, sun spots, freckles & unslightly discolourations of the skin, superficial capillaries & other benign vascular lesions. It is also very effective for a high percentage of people with rosacea & acne.

IPL works by using light energy to target cells with colour in the skin. the light converts to heat, which damages the target cells whilst leaving the surrounding skin unaffected.

Am I suitable for IPL?
Most people are able to be treated with IPL, however if you have a health concern, we recommend to consult your doctor.

Does it hurt?
You may feel a slight pinch, but no local anaesthesia or pain medication is required.
With hair removal, the level of pain reduces with each treatment as there is less hair to treat.

Are there any side effects?
You may experience some short term effects, such as slight reddening of the skin or local swelling which goes away within a few hours.

Is there any down time?
You can resume all normal activites, but all treated areas need to be protected from the sun for 6 weeks after treatment.
